WhatsApp will finally stop working on Blackberry and Windows Phone 8.0 from December 31, 2017

It wouldn’t be a good way to end 2017, but what can Blackberry and Windows Phone 8.0 users do? Back in June, WhatsApp extended its support for the phones, but as clearly stated in a blog post published on the website of the messaging app, the support will end on December 31.

In the blog post, the WhatsApp team said the app will stop working on BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, and Windows Phone 8.0 and older from December 31, 2017 – which is just a few days away. Other operating systems that will soon stop receiving support from WhatsApp include Nokia S40 (from December 31, 2018) and Android 2.3.7 and older (from February 1, 2020).

As for the operating systems that have already stopped receiving support from WhatsApp, they include Windows Phone 7, Android 2.1, Android 2.2, and iOS 6 – all on which WhatsApp stopped functioning since 2016. Nokia S60 phones were the recent phones to receive the blow, back in June.

So if you have a Blackberry or a Windows Phone 8.0 phone as your main phone on which you use WhatsApp, it’s high time you upgraded to Android or iPhone.
