Blackberry smartphone and its BBM app died not quite long – Android and WhatsApp were the murderers – and while their souls were planning to rest in peace, Uber said it’s going to give them a second life. The cab-hailing company said it would make people able to hire a ride from inside the BBM app.
Uber has already added the in-app ride-hailing feature to Facebook Messenger, but because some people are still mourning the death of Blackberry, the company said it is adding the feature to BBM.
Besides, Blackberry is still very much alive in some countries, especially in South Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. For example, Indonesia, which is the fourth most populous country in the world, still has the hands of the majority of its citizens filled with Blackberry phones. So, to come down to the level of this ardent Blackberry lovers, Uber has decided to add the feature to BBM.
Blackberry users would be able to book a ride within the app under the ‘discover’ menu. The feature would work just like the way the web-based version of Uber app works. Hopefully, this added feature to BBM by Uber would give Blackberry the much needed second life and make people use its phones and app more.
