The last time NCC pointed in a direction to our ISPs (MTN, Airtel, Glo & 9mobile), it wasn’t to our favour; then, the telecommunication regulator was suggesting that ISPs in Nigeria should hike the price of data plan. That led to an uproar, especially on social.
Luckily, the Senate waded in, and ISPs maintain the data price. This time, however, NCC is pointing in a good direction that would favour us. They are asking ISPs to give us 14-day grace to roll-over unused data.
This means even if our data plan has expired after the initial 30-day valid period, no ISP dares suspend our data if we haven’t renewed. We will still have a 14-day window period to decide whether or not we are renewing the data, making the valid day for the monthly data plan to be 44 days.
NCC has already issued the directive to ISPs to start the 14-window period for data auto-renewal, and soon ISPs are expected to start complying with the directive.
I am happy with this directive, are you?
