Although MTN data plan is one of most expensive in the country and we are expecting the ISP to make its plan more affordable, it appears the ISP isn’t going close to that. Instead, it is making its data plan ‘more expensive.’
In a recent message the ISP sent to its subscribers, it is stated that starting from October 7, the NGN1000 data plan, which currently gives 1.5GB usable 24 hours for 30 days, will be modified to 1GB usable 24 hours for 30 days and 500MB usable only between 1 AM to 7 AM.
Below is the quoted message from MTN notifying its subscribers of the new development.
Y’ello! From Oct, 7, we’re modifying the 1.5GB plan to give you 1GB +500MB bonus only at night (1am-7am)when you buy or renew…
According to reports, this new ‘modification’ isn’t applied only to the NGN1000 plan; it is also applied to the MTN NGN2000 data plan. In the case of the NGN2000 plan, its current 3.5GB data allocation will be divided into 2.5GB usable 24 hours for 30 days and 1GB usable between 1 AM to 7 AM.
With this new development, MTN is simply restricting the use of the data bonus to the night, and I don’t think this will help the ISP retain its current subscribers or get new ones.
What do you think of this new development from MTN?
