Microsoft to release an Android phone, according to a rumour

Microsoft is hugely successful with Windows OS and computer but not with the Windows Phone. The company tried its luck with Nokia, but still no good luck; however, according to a new rumour, the IT giant, after closing down smartphone production, would be trying its hand with Android.

Microsoft

The rumour came from an unnamed Microsoft employee who claims Microsoft is currently working on a new line of phones, and that the phones are going to be powered by Android. The employee also went on to say that the phones wouldn’t be called Lumia – that the phones would carry the Microsoft’s name and be pure Android.

Since the rumour is coming from an employee, the rumour isn’t taken seriously. An official statement from Microsoft would be needed to confirm if the rumour is true or false.

On Ubergizmo where the rumour was published, the author feels if the speculation isn’t true, the employee might probably be talking about the Microsoft Edition Android phones, which was designed by third-party OEMs but sold in Microsoft Store.
