Royole isn’t a smartphone maker so-to-speak; however, it used to manufacture phone components, most especially AMOLED display screen. To expand its line of business, the company has decided to design a foldable phone, beating the likes of Samsung and Huawei to the foldable phone race.
The phone, named Royole FlexPai, features a 7.8-inch screen with a resolution of 1920×1440 pixel and 4:3 aspect ratio, and according to Royole, the phone can be folded 200,000 times without damage.
For storage, the phone can hold up to 256GB; RAM size is 8 GB, but the processor on the phone is an unnamed Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series. There are dual cameras on the Royole FlexPai; one of the cameras measures 20 MP while the other measures 16 MP, with a wide-angle sensor.
Depending on how the Royole FlexPai is folded, the dual camera can be in front or at the back.
People expected that the phone would run pure Android OS; however, Royole said the phone is pre-installed with Water OS, which is a heavily modified version of Android 9 Pie.
The phone is now available for pre-order for $1320 and will ship in December.
