How to Easily Setup iCloud on Android Phone

Running iCloud on Android phone is something you really want to do if you are just switching from iPhone to Android. Since you have registered and been using your iCloud account for a while, you may not want to dump the email in the name of switching to Android.

So if you want to continue using your iCloud email on your Android device, this post is for you as I will be putting you through the steps to setup iCloud on Android phone.

How to Setup iCloud on Android Phone

To get your iCloud email account to work your Android phone, you don’t need a special iCloud for Android APK; all you need is a good email client. By default, Android OS comes with the Gmail app and an email client called Email. With either of these two, you can set up iCloud on your Android phone.

If you don’t like either of the two, you can use Outlook for Android or storm the PlayStore and get any other email clients out there. Even though the email clients are different, the configuration settings are the same.

iCloud on Android Settings

  • Launch your preferred email client and tap on Add account.
  • Input your registered iCloud email address in the box asking you to Enter your email.
  • Tap on Next.
  • Select the type of email account you want. I recommend selecting Personal (IMAP), for it syncs your email across devices.
  • After selecting Personal (IMAP), tap on Next.
  • Input your iCloud account password in the box asking for your Password.
  • Tap on Next, after supplying your password, and your iCloud mailbox should load and start synchronizing all your old and new emails.

If you have used the Gmail app or Outlook app for this, you shouldn’t have any problem using the above steps to set up iCloud on Android. This is because the two apps would automatically import the iCloud server settings.

NB: You may come across an SSL error message, just opt for the TSL option.

However, if the above steps failed or you have decided to you use the email client called Email, then you will need to do manual settings.

How to Manually Setup iCloud on Android Phone

To manually setup iCloud on Android, you need two settings: Incoming Mail Server Settings and Outgoing Mail Server Settings.

Incoming Mail Server Setting for iCloud

On the manual settings option for any of the email clients, supply the following information in the incoming mail server settings:

  • Server name: mail.me.com
  • SSL required: Yes
  • Port: 993
  • Username: supply the name before @icloud.com. If this blog’s iCloud email address is [email protected]; I will just supply techrabytes in the Username field.
  • Password: supply the password to your iCloud email address.

Outgoing Mail Server Setting for iCloud

Supply the following information in the outgoing mail server settings:

  • Server name:mail.me.com
  • SSL Required: Yes
  • Port: 587
  • SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
  • Username: this time, enter your full iCloud email address.
  • Password: supply the password to your iCloud email address.

When the two settings are good, tap on Next or any option that allows you to continue with the setup. Your iCloud mailbox should start synchronizing.

Setting up iCloud on Android phone is as simple as that; using the Gmail or Outlook for Android even makes it easier and faster.
