The procedure to opt out of MTN data plan auto-renewal comes in two ways: the first way helps to stop the auto-renewal of a specific MTN data plan; the second way helps to stop the auto-renewal of all MTN data plan currently activated on your SIM.
For the way to opt out of a specific data plan, send NO+Data Activation Code to 131. Let’s say you are currently using the MTN 1,000 for 1.5GB data plan, and you subscribe to the plan by sending 106 to 131 or by dialing *106#; to opt out of the auto-renewal of this specific data plan, you will be sending NO106 to 131.
As for the way to opt out of MTN data plan, which cancels the auto-renewal of all currently activated plan, send STOPDATA to 131.
Since you may forget the code used in activating your current data plan, and you may also forget you have more than one data plan running at the same time, the second method should be your most preferred.
