There are three ways by which you can check your number on MTN. The first is through the MTN Portal USSD code, which has a channel for checking users’ number; the second is through a dedicated USSD code for checking MTN numbers; and the third is by sending the MTN Call Me Back message to a nearby phone.

Let’s take the three methods on how to check your number on MTN, one after the other.

How to Check Your Number on MTN

  • Check Your Number on MTN through MTN Portal USSD code

This method involves dialling MTN Portal root USSD code *123#. After dialling the code, you would see 8 options, with Account Information being the first of the options. Press 1 to select the Account Information option – doing that would bring up other options. Press 1 again – this time the number 1 option stands for My Number on the list of the options.

Your MTN number should be displayed now. If you don’t want to go through the long process, you can dial *123*1*1#, which truncates the above steps into one USSD code.

  • Check Your Number on MTN through the Dedicated USSD code for Checking MTN Numbers

Aside from using the above steps, or the *123*1*1# code, you can also use the decided code for checking MTN numbers. The code is *663#. Dial the code and your number would be displayed.

  • Check Your Number on MTN with MTN Call Me Back SMS

This is the third way to checking your phone number. This method works based on the fact that when you send the MTN Call Me Back SMS to someone, the person would receive the message, with your MTN phone number following the message.

So if your friend or a member of your family uses MTN and he or she is around, you would send the call-me message to him or her. The code for sending the call-me message is *133*Number#. Replace Number with the MTN number of the friend or family member.

After dialling the code, the call-me message would be sent to the number and you can then copy out your number.
