Apple has this way of making old stuff look like a new invention, and going by the report published on NDTV, it appears Apple is trying to re-invent dual-SIM functionality in smartphones. According to the report, Apple has started working on adding dual-SIM functionality to iPhone, and the next iPhone to replace the iPhone X might fully support dual SIMs.
We already know that dual-SIM functionality isn’t a new thing — even the likes of itel and Tecno feature phones have the functionality. But trust Apple, it has a way of reinventing the old technology and makes it seems like a totally new technology. So against the current dual-SIM phones already in the market that can only run one sim 3G and one sim 4G on standby, the iPhone’s dual-SIM will be able to run 4G network on standby for the two SIMs.
Aside from the 4G-4G dual SIM support for the future iPhones, Apple is also partnering with Intel to put 5G network on iPhones.
The first dual-SIM iPhone, the possible successor of the iPhone X, is likely to be in the market by mid-2018. As for the 5G network integration on iPhone, the projected actualisation is 2019.
