Alibaba opens car-vending machines in China

Last year, Alibaba, the e-commerce giant, and Ford, the carmaker, signed a deal to deliver car-vending machines that allows people to buy a car easily. The deal has now translated into action as gigantic car-vending machines are now being spotted in China.

The vending machines, which are cat-themed, are also called Super Test-Drive Centers because the aim of building the machines is to allow people planning to buy a car to “withdraw” a car from the machines, test drive – and then make the buying decision.

To use the car-vending machines, users need the Alibaba’s Tmall app, which allows them to choose their car model of choice, make electronic deposits, schedule a pickup time, and take a selfie – for the verification of buyers identity.

Chinese are rated based on a social security system, and using the rating, Alibaba allows free testing of the cars for the people with a rating of 700 and above. People with lower rating would have to pay a fee to test drive before buying.
