They wetted our appetite, with a lovely video, that they are bringing us an unlimited data plan; however, they ended up giving us unlimited data plans. It is no more news that the Airtel unlimited data plan is in three sub data plans. The cheapest: NGN10,0000; the costliest: NGN20,000; the mid-range: NGN15,000.
Immediately after the Airtel unlimited data plan was announced, a lot of people started asking questions such as: Why is the plan coming in 3 different plans? and if the plan is going to be 3, what is the total allotted data for each of the plans?
If you are one of the people asking such questions, there are now answers to your questions.
Here, I will be telling you what Airtel means by the word unlimited, in its unlimited data plan.
To do that, I will pick each of the 3 Airtel unlimited data plan offers and give the allotted data and tell you what will happen if you exceed the allotted data.

Airtel 10,000 Unlimited Data Plan
When you subscribe to this plan, you can use it on any device, and the good news is that it doesn’t zap like some other Airtel data plan. The standard allotted data for this plan is 40GB, and as soon as you exceed this, your data speed would be restricted to not more than 256Kbps till the expiration date. Its activation code is *462*10#.
-
Airtel 15,000 Unlimited Data Plan
This doesn’t zap too and can be used on a number of devices. As for the allotted data, it is put at 65GB, and after that, the 256Kbps restriction rule also applies until the expiration date. Its activation code is *462*15#.

Airtel NGN20,000 Unlimited Data Plan
Of course, this doesn’t zap too and can be used on a number of devices. But the good thing about this Airtel unlimited data plan offer is that you get a free Airtel MiFi when you go for this plan. Its own allotted data is 100GB, before the 256Kbps rule. Its activation code is *462*20#.
Now you know what Airtel means by “unlimited” in its unlimited data plan. Personally, I think these offers would only suit SMEs and heavy Internet users.
What do you think of the Airtel unlimited data plan? Is it a fair bargain to you?
