How to Hide Number on MTN

There are a few reasons you may want to learn how to hide number on MTN. The call recipient may be avoiding your call, so you want to hide your number when you call the person. It can also be that you don’t want the person you are calling to have a record of your phone number so that he or she wouldn’t be able to call you back.

Whatever the reason may be, this post will show you how to block people from seeing your number when you call them. Typically, hiding your number doesn’t mean your call recipient’s phone would ring without showing anything. Instead, the person will see “unknown caller” or “private number.” Even if the person uses TrueCaller, he or she wouldn’t know you are the one calling.

How to Hide Number on MTN

There are two major ways to make your phone number invisible to your call receivers. The first one involves making your number hidden to everybody you call, while the second one only makes your number hidden to only a particular number. Here is how to activate the two methods.

This method can be activated from your phone settings or using a USSD Code. The phone settings method has only be tested on Android phones so the step that will be talked about on this post will be based on the Android OS. For the steps, go to your phone settings, and then tap on Call Settings.

From the Call Settings option, you will see an option called caller identity or something like that. Activate the hidden option, and that’s how to hide number on MTN using Android phone settings.

Note, however, that not all Android phones have the Call Settings option. Therefore, if you check your phone but didn’t see the settings, you can still block all your contacts from seeing your number by using a USSD code to activate the option. Simply dial #31# and send.

After sending the code, a pop-up notification will show that you have disabled your caller ID. To enable your caller ID again, dial *31#, and you will get a notification that your caller ID is now visible again.

The last alternative step you can follow when it comes to how to hide number on MTN for all your contacts is to use the Call Line Identity services of MTN Nigeria. To use the service, call MTN agents centre and ask them to activate CLIR (Call Line Identity Restriction) on your SIM card. Once they do that, your number won’t be visible to anybody you call again.

Generally, it isn’t advisable to hide your number from everybody you call. Moreover, your phone may not support the Call Settings option and MTN may not want to activate the CLIR for you. In that case, the best way to hide number on MTN SIM card is to hide for specific contact or number. This method works seamlessly, but it adopts a method that’s slightly different from what we have talked about above.

Here are the steps on how to hide number on MTN for a specific number.

Let’s say you want to call the number 08036666666. Instead of dialling the number directly or go to your phone book to call the contact with the number, just add #31# in front of the number before calling. This means you will have #31#08036666666 on your call dialler app.

After that, call the person and he or she wouldn’t see your phone number. The call receiver will see either “private number” and “unknown caller.” As stated above, this method is fool-proof and works 100%.

It’s worth stating that because nothing is hidden under the earth, your phone number can still be tracked even if you hide it when calling. If someone hides his or her number when calling and then commit a crime, the service provider can still get the identity of the caller. The only person that finds it difficult to get this identity is the call recipient.

Those are the two methods of hiding number on MTN. Try them out and remain anonymous to your call receivers.
